Laigueglia (Savona) – The numbers of the Granfondo Laigueglia hint at an upswing in participation in these events, a ray of sunshine timidly trying to illuminate an environment that for various reasons is struggling to return to pre Covid numbers.

On Sunday 1303 took off from Corso BadarĂ², 1429 cyclists registered, parading for more than six minutes escorted by five Traffic Police cars, ten motorcycle escorts and as many as 140 people manning the most important road junctions of the 112-kilometer single route.

1322 men and 107 registered for the first of the international granfondo races; among the most represented provinces were Turin with 140 registered, Cuneo 110, Bergamo and Milan 94, and Brescia 72.

528 registered from Lombardy, 330 from Piedmont and 102 from Liguria. Among the most represented nations besides Italy, France, Belgium, Germany, England.

Gentleman 2 (197 registered) and Gentleman 1 (187) then Senior 2 (159) and Veterans 2 (149) the most represented categories. Among the top five masters formations with the most entries were the Rodman Team of President Marco Pipino with 61 entries, GS Passatore led by Marisa Sereno (51), Garda Scott Matergia (41), Swatt Club (35) and Jolly Europrestige (27).

The team classification of the Granfondo Laigueglia saw the success of the Turin-based battleship Rodman Team with 6496 kilometers covered by the 60 cyclists at the start. In second position GS Passatore 5712 kilometers, Garda Scott Matergia 3584, Swatt Club 3360 and jolly Europrestige 3024.

It should be noted, that as many as 473 companies were represented by cyclists who participated in the opening queen of the international calendar.

On Sunday, March 10, Alassio the city of the Muretto, will host the eleventh edition of the Granfondo Alassio, the second round of the Gran Trofeo Gs Alpi circuit.
